Publisher 2003: Merged postcard file prints reduced size postcards

I merged addressees from Excel 2003, display the first card, set to print 4
on a page and get a preview and printout of what I want but the cards are
miniatures rather than full-sized.

Setup your page as a postcard. I don't know why you are getting miniatures, it
will be a printer setting. Do you have a setting that says in essence, print
document on ?? stock?

Hi Mary,

I have my page set as a postcard in Publisher 2003. My printer is an Epson
Stylus Photo R320 and there is no print stock, or such, type feature. The
paper is set to sheet feed, 8 1/2 x 11 letter with 4 pages per sheet set. My
entire file contains 59 individual postcards and my test prints the first
four cards on one sheet.

What are you merging? What happens if you don't designate 4 pages per sheet?
When I merge postcards in Publisher 2003 I don't need to select 4 pages per
sheet, Publisher prints this by default. It has changed in 2007.

I'm merging the addressees for the mailing side of the card. The document
is just the address side of the card.

If I don't designate 4 pages per sheet I get a full-sized card per person in
the center of the sheet. If I change the page setup to multi-pages per sheet
I get 4 cards per sheet of the same person. Changing the setup to 1 copy per
sheet and the printer layout to 4 copies per sheet I get 4 different cards on
a sheet of reduced size. I get the same results on 3 other printers on my
network.

Mel, Are you creating a new publication in step 5 of the merge wizard? May be
the reason for your printing woes. Select print merge in the file menu or simply
print in step 5.

Mary,

That was exactly the problem! Hooray, it's working now! I was saving to a
new document. I started over and used your suggestion and it wirked fine with
the only change - on the Print Merge screen I had to change : "Change copies
per sheet " to "Print multi copies per sheet". Otherwise I got a single card
in the middle of the sheet. I am deeply endebted to you for your patience
and help.

Glad to help, Mel. Took me awhile to realize the problem. Thanks for posting
back, I really appreciate it.

Mary,

One last thing. Is this a reportable bug in Publisher 2003? It seems to me
that if an option is offered it should work, unless there is a caveat
attached as to the limitations.

Thank you once again,

Mel

Mary,

I couldn't wade through the appropriate selections to get to a place where I
could enter a feedback after I logged in. I'll just forget about it. Maybe
it will dawn on someone that it needs fixing.
