I WANT MY MONEY BACK.. Did you solve your problem?

Thousands of Publisher 2003 users are using Publisher without this problem -
and it's only started to appear with any regularity in the last couple of
weeks. Maybe a new video card has been released whose drivers don't work
properly with Publisher?
Have you tried checking the "Trust installed templates and add-ins" option
under Tools > Macro > Security? It worked for someone else earlier today.

Other details should be available for other areas.

Replying to myself here ! As bad as talking to yourself.
The suggestions elsewhere on this site regarding turning down the slider on
the graphics hardware acceleration setting (display- troubleshoot) will
remove the problem - not a complete answer but at least it works until ATI
gets it sorted properly.
Thanks to the folks who helped me out with a work around.

I have the exact same problem AND the exact same ati Radeon video card.
Turning down the acceleration does fix it, but I have no problem with any
other program so far. I downloaded and installed the most recent drivers
(from january 2005) with no success. I've tried everything listed in this
forum and the only thing that lets me see the graphics is turning the video
acceleration down so the direct draw and Direct 3D are disabled completely.
This is most frustrating... hopefully ati will come up with a driver that
will work with publisher 2003. I will try more things and if I have any
success I will post back here.

Addendum to previous post: I have contacted ATI about this problem with
Publisher 2003 and described what is happening. If they contact me, I will
post their response here.

Thanks for the information, Susan
Are you running Windows XP Media Center Edition or one of the other
releases?
Thanks,

full accel.

Try this:
Put the slider all the back to full acceleration and open pub and go to:
tool/options/security/macro security/trusted publishers and put a check
mark in Trust all installed add-ins and templates.
Close Pub and re-open.

You are a genius Frank! I was tearing my hair out like ezwez and Susan today
when I used my Publisher 2003 for the first time and had the same problem.
Fortunately I found your advice. Good on you! Thank you very much.

When turned on the Trust all installed add-ins and templates the pictures reappeared. Thanks Frank...good call. I have an ATI 9600 pro. Changing the accelerator made no difference.

Everytime I close a pub. file with clip art or pictures inserted when re
opening the file the pictures are not there.. the area is there I can see the
handles but no pictures.. How can I stop this.. I have tried the graphics
manager and they show there but not in my file on my page..

I am having the same problem, but I do not accept it is down to drivers -
and here's why.

The images that keep vanashing are imported clipart items. In all instances
the original item survives but any that have been flipped to give a mirror
image for example end up as empty place holders.

I've tried saving the file as Publisher 97, but this gives no improvement -
so now I have to manipulate my clipart in another application (PaintShop Pro)
and place them Publisher afterwards. Hardly a step forward from Publisher 97
to 2003!

Any suggestions anyone?

View, pictures, detailed display, if that doesn't solve the issue, Its the video
driver... Publisher 97 did not compress images, basically you exacerbated the
problem.

I'm not sure how the OP saved as Publisher 97, as there is no option in
any version of Publisher since 97 to save as a Publisher 97 file.

Publisher 97 did save WMF files as vector files, so if vector ClipArt is
being used, then the images wouldn't be decompressed.

However, if you flip an image in PSP and bring it back into Publisher,
then you've rasterised it and will increase the filesize and reduce the
quality.

You can "refuse to accept" that the video drivers are at fault all you
like, but it won't solve your problem. You can scream until you're blue
that you're wearing the finest clothes ever made as you walk through the
street naked, but it won't change the fact that in fact you have no
clothes on. (Note that I am not suggesting that you do this or that you
should try.)
