publisher 95 document won't open with 98

Hi,

I have some documents that took a great deal of time to make which are
suddenly necessary to access again. I have since upgraded to XP, and
have Publisher 98 on my machine. I get "...is not a valid win32
application" if I click on the document in windows explorer. When I
open 98 and try to open the documents, I get "Publisher cannot open
earlier "publisher cannot open files from a different version". I
tried to change the "open with" setting to publisher 98, and it still
doesn't work. I also can't seem to find my old publisher 95 disc.

I hope there is a solution that doesn't require buying yet another
microsoft upgrade.

Thanks for any help you can give.

You can send them to me and I will convert for you. Remove "my" to reply.

Thanks for the generous offer (and the prompt reply), and please
forgive my ignorance, but convert them to what?

Thanks.

Hi Mary Sauer ([email protected]),
in the newsgroups

What are the results of your research Mary?

He sent them and I converted them. He did have some formatting loss. Fonts were
changed. They originally opened in 2003, I was surprised at that. I assumed they
wouldn't.

Thanks Mary. Do you happen to still have the Publisher 95 publications?

Yes I do. You want them? If I look on my old 3.1 machine I probably find older ones.
I ran across Publisher on 5 1/4 disks. Wonder if they work?

That would be great if you have time.
