Publisher and Image formats

I have created an illustration for a client. I have scanned it/prepped it in
photoshop.
My client will be importing it into a publisher document. He wants it to be
without a background.
Can Publisher use an EPS file which I can prepare without background? Or I
could create a tiff with an embedded channel or clipping path. Does Publisher
have runaround capabilities?
How would you go about it?
