Just reinstalled Office Professional Edition and the dictionary didn't load.

Should I remove MSFT Pub and reinstall it?

Are you getting an error? Is it the custom dictionary? Publisher and Word use the
same dictionary, can you use the dictionary in Word?

Sorry. I stand corrected. Dictionary is not present in Word either, i.e.,
"Add to Dictionary" is grayed out.

Might be the dictionary was not installed, go to the control panel, Add or Remove
Programs, scroll down to Office, click change...

Did that just now as you instructed. No change.

Publisher says it cannot load the speller or dictionary and continues, "To
install the Spell Checker and Hyphenation dictionary, run Publisher setup
again and choose custom installation. For information on running setup, press
F1."

I am guessing the dictionary is somewhere on my HD but the apps are not
pointing to that location.

It worked! Apparently the Custom dictionary was damaged. I renamed it old,
created a new one, renamed old to txt, opened txt in Notepad, copied it to
Word, got rid of all the extra spaces, did a spell check which I used to
selectively import the words from the damaged dict into the new one. It was
amazing how many misspelled words I had in the old dict.

Should probably periodically do an import like this just to clean out the
bad stuff.

Thanks for your help and for hanging in there with me.
