Publisher date format

Hi,
I am using office 2003, i have a publisher page that extracts data from an
XLS page, this all works fine till i get to the date. The date in the XLS
sheet is in the UK format dd/mm/yyyy but when it is displayed in publisher it
turns into mm/dd/yyy. I have checked all the settings of both the office
producs including local settings of the machine and all settings are correct.
I need to keep the UK date setup in my publication. any ideas?
