Publisher Question

How do I overlap stacked objects so that the top object appears to be tucked
INTO the object behind it?

Arrange menu, Order...
or alt+F6, bring to the front
alt+Shift+F6, send to the back.

There is also bring forward or send backward with no keyboard equivalent in the
Arrange menu, Order.

Thank you. I do know how to do that. What I am looking to do is take a
picture/graphic and overlap it onto an autoshape. For example have a diamond
autoshape in the background and place a pic onto the shape. Then I would like
to create a look that makes the viewer think the pic is coming up from behind
the autoshape from the bottom.

Which version of Publisher are you using?

Are you referring to a cutout? (think paperdoll?)
IOW...layer the cutout (odd shape) on top of
another graphic?

Or do you mean "fill" an autoshape with a picture?

If that's not it...please provide a more detailed
description of what you are trying to accomplish.

I am using '03. Nope, I am not referring to a cutout and no, not wanting to
fill an autoshape with a graphic. Although, I will mention that I did learn
how to do that today, lol. With all the searching I have been doing I found
some very useful tips!! Like "filling" an autoshape with a pic/graphic and
how to customize the clipart provided by Microsoft. It's great, I can even
change the color of the different parts in any chosen clip.

Anywho, I want to make a top pic/graphic look like it is tucked into an
autoshape, e.g. a diamond, without the bottom of said pic/graphic hanging off
in space. The best way I can explain it is like when you put a piece of paper
into a folder (pee-chee from '80's). You tuck it in. That's what I want to
do. Tuck my graphic into an autoshape.

I must be quite daft because I have no
idea what you are trying to describe...sorry.

A Pee-Chee folder was one with a pocket. If all you want to do is have something
tucked into a pocket, create an auto shape the same size as the first auto
shape, re-size it. put your photo behind the second auto-shape.

Use the crop tool on your photo, or the *edit points* from the drawing tool bar.
You can edit the points on a photo to almost any shape. What you are trying to
do is not hard, but it would be lots easier in a editing program.

Thanks Mary, now I have a better idea
of what the OP is trying to accomplish.
