Publisher sometimes doesn't print

Hello,

Sometimes when I try to print at 1200 dpi, Publisher will not print
the bitmap file that is on the page. It also won't display it in the
print preview. Other times it will not display the 1200dpi bitmap,
but will still print it anyway.

When I lower the dpi to 600 on the bitmap that is imported onto the
Publisher page, that often makes both problems go away.

But I do not want to lower the dpi on the imported files. 1200 dpi is
better, and I can see the difference.

Is there some sort of setting in Publisher I can adjust to make it
consistently handle 1200 dpi imports properly?

Can't think why you'd need 1200 dpi, I hardly ever go over 300 dpi and have
printed some pretty nice booklets.
Your files must be huge.

My commercial printer recommends only 300dpi. Yup, those files MUST
be huge!! :)

Just a guess but I wonder if would help
to go into Advanced Printer Properties
and change to: 'Print Directly To Printer'.

You should be able to find this setting by
going to Control Panel / Printers and right
click the icon for your printer...from the
menu...choose...Properties...look for
Advanced settings.

They are black and white line art. I noticed commerical printers seem
to use something like 2450dpi for monochrome printing. My
understanding is that with color photos you can go with a lower dpi,
but for line art and small text you want a high dpi.
