Pulleeez! Help with tables!!!

Could someone tell me why I cannot straighten my tables
out on this page????? I have gone over and over and over
them. I tried to make each table the same as far as
properties and postioning but still I can't keep the
tables from overlapping and misbehaving. You will see the
overlapping tables. Why do I get small black bounding
boxes on some of the tables when I try to move them???
If I select a table and click on table properties just to
view the cell padding and cell spacing when I click 'OK'
to close the window FrontPage removes my cell borders
even though I have the box "show table cells and borders"
checked off. This is driving me nuts. Here is the url:

All I want to do is keep the tables spaced apart in an
organized manner for reading ease. Thanks

There are several "nesting" errors in the html
for the page, such as:
an opening <div> tag followed by a closing </font> tag
when the font tag should have been closed in the same element
that contains the opening <font> tag
In other words tags must open and close in "sequence"
<table><tr><td><font>text and other stuff></font></td></tr></table>
Same rule applies to div tags etc.

It never fails -- when you ask somebody to take a look
everything looks okay.

BTW -- the 'align' attribute can be used to align tables
adjacent to one another but I have never seen any browser
that can render 3 tables adjacent to one another. The 3rd
table will always wrap to the next line so to speak.

If you are trying to layout tables adjacent to one another
you can use nested tables.

Clinton, I'm just trying to put one table after another
on the left side of the page. I actually had several
jpgs next to a few of the tables. I deleted the jpgs
figuring I could add them after I got the tables to look
good.
Your term nested table means tables within a table. But
I'm trying to put them one after another on the left so I
don't see how I can nest them. Any other thoughts?

Try this. Start with a "new blank page". Copy and paste
the information existing before the tables from the
original page. Then, insert several blank lines below
this information, skip a few lines and insert a single
table on the left of the page. Don't give it height, just
width in per cent (I would suggest 50%). Then, put the
curser below the table, add a few blank lines. This keeps
the tables separated. Now, repeat the process until you
have the number of tables you like.

Go into each table and split the cells as desired. I
recomment breaking up the 50% into the cells. The cells
can be given height in pixels. Then transfer (copy and
paste) your information accordingly from the original
page, then preview and delete the additional blank
lines. When it previews as you like it, go into the new
page HTML. Start below the </head> tag and copy all the
HTML. Then go to the original page HTML, highlight all
the HTML below the </head> tag and paste. Before you
save, be sure to preview first.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi Marge, Thats how I created the tables the first time I
did the page. I put about 3 returns in between each
table. I added a few Jpegs beside a few of the tables and
published it up to my site. Everything was fine for
about 3 months then all of a sudden the tables started to
overlap. So in doing some maintenance on my web I
decided to 'clean up' the page. Thats when the 'fun'
started. Some tables that were at the top of the page
actually ended up at the bottom and I don't know how. I
also get those small square bounding boxes which make it
appear that some of the tables are on some invisible
template that you can move around. I'm not exactly a
novice at front page but I can't seem to manage tables.
I'm going to create another page and copy all of the text
over from the tables which is kind of what you suggested.
But I still think the program falls way short of being
user friendly. Without these newsgroups I doubt they'd
sell any more FrontPage programs. They'd end up giving
them away with XP. Thanks for the reply. Al Catt

Remove all absolute positioning from your tables as in
<div style="position: absolute; left: 180; top: 1594; width: 263; height: 321">
