purpose of OfficeRegisteredUser.exe

What is the purpose of
C:\Program Files\MS Office Registered User Update\OfficeRegisteredUser.exe
and where can I get a clean copy if it is a file that I want or need?

My virus software says that it is infected with a variety of the Dropper
trojan. The only sanitization information that I have found says to delete
infected files. use the www.microsoft.com home page search option and got no
hits on OfficeRegisteredUser.exe

Delete the file and run your AV again. That is not a legitimate file.
Trust your AV when it tells you something is infected. Also ensure your AV
signatures are up to date.

Thanks. The AV had already quarantined the .exe. I knew that I could
successfully start Excel without it, but did not know if it was an MS file
that had become infected, or was the actual carrier file.
