pwa speed issue prj 2007

I have 2 environments, each on seperate hardware platforms. Each hardware
platform is a 2 server farm. Project / Sharepoint on 1 server, SQL on 2nd
server. Both platforms are on the same network and both are considered local
intranet for me.
In the production environment, the pwa home page takes 30 seconds to open.
Once there, moving from area to area is fine < 5 seconds with the exception
of the issues / risks area. That takes about 20 seconds. if I hit the home
page tab, it takes >30 to go home. In my dev environment, the home page,
issues / risks etc takes about 5 or so seconds. Anyone have any suggestions
as to where to look.

Hi John, if you reboot everything, is the time the same between the two
systems. Worth also setting up a SQL Maintenance plan on each server,
however the likely problem is WSS, so start your troubleshooting there.

In addition to Ben's input, I would wonder:

1) Are both hardware environments equivalent, i.e., same processors, drives,
etc.?
2) Is Production hosting any applications other than those related to
Project Server?
3) Is the data set essentially the same in both Dev and Prod?

Same issue here. We found that the last big patch made either the risk or
issues load very slowly. If you modify the reminders web part and remove
both, it will greatly increase your speed.

Doesn't fix the issue but did resolve the speed problem.
