PWS - Adding a Db to my website

Hi Tom.....I am hosted on a linux server so my thinking was that if I could
set this up on XP, it would function as a Windows Server and I could use
various features that are not available to me on the linux server. If that
is not possible, then I am wasting my time with all of this.

You can use features (DB) not available to non-windows server in a localhost server
- but you can't publish that web to a non-windows server and expect it to work

Windows XP is not a suitable OS for hosting a website, though it is
fine for development and testing. If you are hosted on Linux then
probably you should be testing on Linux, where the features are the
same as at your host.
If you wish to use features available on IIS servers, then you should
look for a Windows host.

IIS5.1 running on Windows XP Pro is limited to 10 connections. Some
browsers (Netscape 6 for example) will try to download a page using
more than 10 connections, resulting in some parts of the page not
displaying at all, and preventing other users from gaining access to
the website

Hi Ron
I don't think I am explaining myself well on this so I will try again. I am
not trying to host a web site. I am just a plain old guy with Windows XP and
I have a web page hosted on a linux server. The linux server I am hosted on
requires that I use PHP and mySql to create a database.

It was my thought to use my XP Pro machine as my own personal web server
where I could experiment with ASP and the Front Page method of creating
databases. I wanted to be able to go into Front Page and create a web, the
database etc; and then publish it to http://localhost. Is this possible or
not? That is my question.

Almost
You don't publish to local host, you open the FP web at localhost and create / run your ASP pages and DB there
