q. Using a macro to send data from Excel to Word

D

David

Does anyone know a good way to use a macro to paste data copied from an
Excel data table into a Word table. The data will always go to the same
location in Word. For example data copied from the Project Desc field in
Excel will always go to the Project Desc field in Word, data copied from the
Project Location field in Excel will always go to the Project Location field
in Word, etc..

I have advanced knowledge of using macros to move data around in Excel, but
know very little about how to place it into word.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David

I guess you have a couple of choices (maybe more with minor variations).

The first is to actually paste the Excel range directly into a Word document if you can
live with it. Give it a try manually first and see if you can live with the results.
There is an overall limitation with this technique in that the data pasted into Word must
fit on one page.

The other option is to shadow the Ranges in Excel with tables in Word. You can then use
automation (from either Word or Excel - it as case of push or pull) to iterate the excel
ranges and transfer the data in the Word tables.

Hi David

My second suggestion was not about copying data per se, but transferring the data a cell
at a time from an range in an Excel worksheet to a table in Word. This assumes that there
are the same number of rows and columns in the Excel range being copied and in the Word
table you are copying the data to.

Do you intend to push that data into Word from Excel, or pull the data Word from Excel?
