Question on emailing to categorized emails.

Dianah

Outlook 2002, on Windows XP Pro.

Ok ... I've categorized a bunch of my email addresses. I can look at that
list (in my contacts) by selecting the category. There's just over 50
names. The people in that list want to each have a copy of all the emails
in the list. So I need to email each of them and include a reference to all
those in that category. Can it be done. If so ... how? I thought it would
be easy to figure out, but I'm miffed!

Are the others all using Outlook also, or are they using different e-mail
programs?

I can't really say that I know. They are members of a hiking club and I put
together all the email addresses from a big hike we had this summer. They
are scattered across Canada and the US. I'm sure there's a real assortment.
I'm trying to find a way to send them all the addresses, but I can't seem to
grab them out of the categorized list. I sure don't want to copy/paste
those 50+ email addresses.

If you or someone knows of a way that I can do this within outlook (2002),
I'd appreciate it.

Have you tried selecting all the items in the categorized list at once and
then pressing CTRL+C to copy to the clipboard, then pasting the data into an
Excel spreadsheet? You can put the list in another format after that, if
you want, if you don't know whether or not the recipients will have Excel
installed.

Jocelyn, when I tried copying to the clipboard .. I received a warning that
I had put a lot of information into the clipboard (which I haven't cuz it's
just 50+ email addresses). Anyway, when I paste (into outlook "to" field)
.... all I get are semi-colons. That didn't make sense to me, so I figured I
was doing it wrong or that it simply wasn't an option. I didn't try pasting
to excel.

Try pasting to Excel first. Once you've done that, you should be able to
copy from Excel and paste into a program like Notepad or Word, which will
make the list a lot easier to read. I tested it the other night and it
worked fine for me.
