Quotes Show Incorrectly From Template

hA Word template created with Office 2003 was posted on the web at my workplace. When I access the template using Word 2002, it shows symbols instead of quotes. For example, "A" shows as AA@. Two other people can view it correctly. One has Word 2003 and the oter has Word 2002. I was told to install all Word updates which I did, restarted, and it still shows incorrectly on my computer. How do I fix it?
