RBS Structure

I have setup an RBS structure which mimics our organizational
structure. However, we have some resources that report to one resource
manager, but are a shared resource to another. Is there a way of
providing the second resource manager with the ability to see task
assignments for the shared resource that is outside of his department?

Help would be most appreciated.

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is closing
down. To answer your question, there is no way to set the RBS values to
model a situation when a resource reports to multiple managers. Microsoft's
vision for the use of RBS is that each resource reports to only one
immediate manager. Hope this helps.

Dale,

I'm not looking at changing the reporting structure. I'm looking at
giving the other resource manager visibility of the tasks assigned to
the resource outside his department. The tasks assigned to this
resource are closely related to and sometimes depend on tasks assigned
to this department head, so visibility is very important to both
resource managers.

If you only have a couple of RM's, you can control what projects and
resources they see by creating a custom Category for each RM and then adding
that Category to the RM's user account information in PWA. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thank you for the information, however, I was looking for a more
generic way. we have many resource managers and I don't want to create
a custom category to manage the dependencies.

Thank you for the advise.
