Re-Built Profile, but still wants Password...?

Howdy,

I run OL2002 SP3 under XP...

When I click Send & Receive, Outlook opens the dialog that
asks that I enter my Network Password and Username. Both
already appear with the password as a line of asterisks. At
that point, no matter what I enter, it makes the request
again.

It was my understanding that this problem could be solved by
creating a new Mail Profile, and that took just a moment,
and seemed to solve the problem for a few minutes.

Then, I created yet another profile, but now have the
problem again.

(I should add that each time I build a new profile, I click
to "Test Settings" and they are fine...)

What should be my next step?

Many thanks,

K

Hi again,

Moments ago I thought to create a new email account to go
with the new profile, but the problem still remains...

Thanks for any help,

Hi yet again,

I read further, and did the reg hack described in KB290684.
After successfully deleting the password key in the
registry, I went to Control Panel | Mail, looked at my email
account, saw that (happily) the passwords had been deleted,
and re-entered them.

Then, I launched Outlook, tried a Send & Receive, and had
the "Enter Username & Password" problem as before.

Thanks for any help,
