Re-connecting Network Printer to new OS

We have recently renewed our operating system to Windows
XP and now our network printer is no longer working.
Shouldn't XP recognize the printer and automatically re-
connect the computer?

If anyone can help, we'd surely appreciate it.

Update your printer drivers (to XP) and if your running through a print server, those drivers as well.
