Re-installing Office 2000

Elizabeth

Our system crashed, and I tried re-installing Office 2000, but the system wants the product number from the box. We purchased the software when we bought our computer a few years ago, and no longer have the box or a receipt. Does anyone know how to handle this problem? Does Microsoft provide support for this?

As you've found its important to keep safe both the app cd and the code;
If it is a retail version, ie not OEM, you can apply to MS, however you may
have difficulty if you cannot prove ownership. I have read other posts that
suggest any valid O2K, for the same version, will work, I have not tried it.
