Re-installing Outlook 97 - where can I find inbox

J

John

I had to reinstall XP on my PC because it became corruped
and I had been running Outlook 97. After re-installing
XP I re-installed Office 97 with Outlook, but I can't
find my previous inbox etc from Outlook. I am told it is
a .pst file but I cannot find it.

Any ideas?

You are correct. Outlook stores its information in a PST file if you were
delivering your e-mail locally. Search your computer for *.PST and see what
you come up with. Make sure you are displaying hidden files and folders.

Also, is it possible that you were viewing an Exchange mailbox instead of a
PST in your previous configuration. If you were accessing a mailbox, then
there is NO local storage file; All of your data is maintained on the
Exchange Server.
