Jerie

I have in cell B2,B10,B18, the word "farm" when the word
"farm" is missing in cell B2 what formulla can I use to say
go to cell B10 or B18 ? or if any one of those cells are
blank what can I use.

Thank You for your reply Frank

what I ment was , use cell A2 or A10 or A18 if the word
farm was missing from any one of those cells,so that I will
always have the word " farm " in my end result.

Hi
first try to stay in the orginal thread :)
You may really explain what you're trying to calculate. what is your
expected end result. Best way:
- post some example rows of data
- explain your expected result based on this example

Hi Jerie

my understanding of what you're asking is that if
B2 = "farm" then Sheet2!D1 needs to have the word "farm" in it, however if
B2 is blank then look at
B10 if it = "farm" then Sheet2!D1 needs to have the word "farm" in it,
however if B10 is blank then look at
B18 if it = "farm" then Sheet2!D1 needs to have the word "farm" in it,
however if B18 is blank then put the word "farm" in Sheet2!D1

so as far as i can tell the only time you don't want the word "farm" in
Sheet2!D1 is when there is something other than the word farm in B2 / B10 or
B18

if so then use this formula in cell D1 of sheet 2
=IF(Sheet1!B2="farm","farm",IF(Sheet1!B2="",IF(Sheet1!B10="farm","farm",IF(S
heet1!B10="",IF(Sheet1!B18="farm","farm",IF(Sheet1!B18="","farm","")),"")),"
"))

Cheers
