received html emails are not displayed

emails i receive (html format) are not displayed at all. outlook knows the
overall message size (eg; 48k) but the propoerties of the emails are only
small (eg; 5k). I have tried all the various "download complete items" etc
but no uck. Can anyone help at all with this.
