receiving excel sheet in rich text format

Using outlook 97, when I receive a page sent from a user as an excel
workbook, it is received as an html file. I then need to use ie explorer to
open and read it. Others using outlook express set up for rich text, see
the sheet directly. Can I fix this inconvenience?
