recommended max size for PST files

Hi,

What is the recommended maximum size for a PST file?

I have been told between 250mb and 500mb to reduce chance
of losing loads of data if file becomes corrupt and also
so that it can be backed up to cd.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Depends on version;
ie OL2K has a limit of 2gb though problems can occur from1.7gb; latest
version unlimited(theoretically)
You can reduce size by Archiving - then compacting

Yes, It is Outlook 2000 - really after advice from
admin/IT Help point of view mainly with regards to backing
up and retrieving.

Personally I use MS Backup addin and backup to separate hd.
Also use Archive, individual by year.
If backups/Archive are on a hd then at least you can open the pst, without
going through all the rigmarole of copying, amending attribute etc

Does the unlimited st file size have to be created in an
Exchange enterprise version or just have Outlook 2003
running?
