Recover "exchanged" file in publisher

My wife was working on a large document in publisher. When she went to close
out an "exchange file" window came up instead of a "save changes". But her
auto response to click yes had already happened. Does anyone know of a way
to recover the old content that was saved under the same file name? Thanks
for your help. - Mike

=============================
When a file is overwritten (replaced),
it's gone unless you have a backup.

The dialog is usually something like:

Would you like to replace the existing file
xxxxx
With this one?
xxxxx

Clicking 'Yes' is the end of the original file.

I've seen the suggestion that searching
for temp files might be worth a try...but
personally I've never had any luck finding
a replacement for an overwritten file.

Hey John, it doesn't hurt to try to look for a temp file. Publisher does create
them.

Type %temp% in the address bar in Windows Explorer. Look for files with a pub
prefix. Change the .tmp to .pub, maybe you will get lucky.

Thanks Mary, I'll give it a try the next
time I have a problem.
