Reinstall MSO: how can I prevent to loose my Personal Folders

kermor

My MSO 03 is infected. I wanr to reinstall my MS Office 03: how can I
prevent to loose my:
-Personal Folders and
-My Contacts Folder and or my Addresses Folder and
-My Calendar Folder.
Thank you for your prompt reply....

You will never lose data created in Microsoft Office if you uninstall and
reinstall.

However, having said that, save your .pst file (use Windows search and
enable searching hidden files) to a safe location.

First, however, you might want to post why you think your Office 2003
installation is infected. Simply removing it and reinstalling will not
remove any infection. That requires an AV product - you can use House Call
from Trend Micro to check your system. Then you should get an AV program,
one free one that works well is from http://www.grisoft.com.

Thank you... In fact my MSO particularly my Outlook can't be updated; I have
some problems related to lost registry I believe. I.e. my menu missed “Fileâ€
staring with edit instead… The best way is to remove everything and start
with a fresh copy and do my update....
I went to Windows search and could not find my .pst file! I went under all
files and folders and nothing came out!!!
You said that removing MSO will keep intact my personal folders, my contacts
folder and calendar somewhere... I'm sure you're right but I want to play
safe with those files and save it on my desktop, I can’t take the risk to
loose all of them...
Reinstalling MSO meaning Outlook, what should I do to bring back into my
e-mail program those files the same way I left them?
Thank you again for your help.

Have you tried Detect and Repair from the Help menu of any Office program?

Remember, all that uninstalling and reinstalling will accomplish is a
passage of time - it seldom, if ever, fixes a problem.

Yes I did use “Detect and Repair†on several occasions. This is the message I
receive: MO Small Business Edition 2003 set up failed!
If I try to update my MSO Small Business or use my automatic update, it will
fail…
I tried again today and did fail on the following updates: MS Small Bus and
for Outlook 03 junk e-mail filter.

If you can answer to my previous e-mail in detail so I may use this Sunday
the time to fix everything before tomorrow.

Again thank you for your help,

It sounds like your installation has hosed registry settings - try this
article for assistance and then run the utility. Then either run Detect and

||||||| First, however, you might want to post why you think your Office
||||||| 2003 installation is infected. Simply removing it and
||||||| reinstalling will not remove any infection. That requires an AV
||||||| product - you can use House Call from Trend Micro to check your
||||||| system. Then you should get an AV program, one free one that
||||||| works well is from http://www.grisoft.com.
