reinstalling office for a mac

my kids is away at college, had a trojan on his mac and he failed to back up
mac office to his external hard drive.
Can he reinstall with just the product code? I have the disk at home.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

If he can find an installation disk, he can use the original product
code. Possible sources - other students, user groups, Mac stores.
