Reminders about deleted tasks

I have a couple of projects where a task or two was
deleted from the project plan. However, users keep
receiving automatic email reminders that these tasks are
overdue. I've tried republishing but that doesn't work.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

If the tasks were deleted from the plan without closing out the assingments
first, then you have orphaned assignments in the database. The only way to
correct this problem is to hunt these down and remove them directly from the
database.

Thanks for this information. Is there a way to identify
the tasks in the database? I know I can choose to delete
tasks for a particular user that are older than or sent on
but it doesn't appear that I can get a list of what is
found in the database. I'm concerned that I would
inadvertently delete a legitimate task and not just the
orphan.

Gary:

First accept all outstanding updates to the task. Then set remaining work on
the assignment(s) to zero and publish the change. Then you can delete the
task. Keep in mind that you should only delete tasks that never accrued
actual work, otherwise you orphan actual work the same way you orphan
remaining work; the other side of the double edge sword..

Gary,

How exactly does one "close out the assignment"? I am experiencing the
same problem and I would like to understand where I went wrong when I
deleted the assignments.
In addition, is there a way to identify the orphaned assignments? I can
view all of the deleted assignments using "SELECT * FROM MSP_WEB_ASSIGNMENTS
WHERE WASSN_DELETED_IN_PROJ = 1" however I'm not sure what the next step
would be to resolve this problem.
