remove read only from word documents

I moved Word Document files from one computer to another. I used a flash
drive. Now all my documents are read only. I followed the giude to unlock
them but it always changes back. I am using Vista with Office 2002.

Likely the files now have a read only attribute set. You will need to
reset it. The folder they are in could also be set as read only. Do a
right click on the file or folder and see if read only is set. Just uncheck
it.

In Vista folders are marked Read Only by default for Vista use. So ignore
Read Only on folders.

If you select all of the files you moved in Windows Explorer, right click on
the selection and select Properties, you can clear all the Read Only
attributes at once.

Moving files will a flash drive should not set the Read Only attribute {as
would happen if you used a CD}. Files can also be Read Only if you are using
a expired trial version of Office or have not activated Office.
