I seem to be having a problem deleting names from the auto-complete list
when sending a new message. any suggestions please.

You're highlighting the name and hitting Delete? What happens?

Highlight the entry and right-click, scroll to delete. Is that what you need?

I tried highlighting the address and hitting delete but it will not remove
it.

That would only happen in Outlook 2002 and only if you have only a single
entry in the dropdown list. If so, create a second so you can remove the
other.

but I have multiple entries in the drop down list, many of which I would
like to remove because they are bogus.

Then you are the only one with your problem and it can not be reproduced.

For the benefit of those who might be as stupid or inexperienced as me. I
found that I was highlighting the name I wanted to delete by placing the
mouse pointer on the name to highlight the name rather than using the down
arrow and scrolling to the name and then hit the delete key and that works.
