Removing line returns

After pasting a text file into Word the length of the
lines is much shorter than page width. "Show Formatting"
shows that the lines end with a "Return". Removing
the "Returns" one by one will result in lines using the
full page width but this is a time-consuming task. Does
anyone know of a quicker way? Thanks.
