renaming index.html

My homepage comes up with "index.html" (even when search engines find it) and
I would like it to say the site name. When I change that to any other name,
it will not work, although all the same steps are taken for uploading it to
the server. Any suggestions on how to change this?

Like you said: it won't work.

As your home page file name is "index.html", I assume that you are using Pub
2000. Go to File > Web Properties > page tab and fill in the "Title" for the
page there. Do not change the default "file name" from index.html. And while
you are there, under the Site tab you enter the keywords and description.

If you really meant "index.htm" and are using Pub 2003 or 2007, go to Tools
Web page options to enter the Page title, Description and keywords. Once
again, do not change the default file name from index.htm.

If you have further web questions, please post in the web group and we will
try to help you there: microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign
