Renaming Tasks

We run MSP 2003 with Server in an enterprise environment. I want to activate
the Bogdanov Associates Portfolio Analyzer Extender, but many task names
include illegal characters. So, prior to activating the extender, I want to
remove all illegal characters from task names. My question therefore:

Can someone recommend a good protocol for renaming tasks please.

I generally recommend that tasks be named using the verb-noun approach, such
as "Develop initial draft." I also recommend that the task name be
descriptive enough that the team member assigned will understand what work
needs to be performed on that task. I generally recommend that milestones
be named using the noun-verb approach, such as "Initial Draft Completed." I
would welcome the thoughts of others in this group for their ideas as well.

Thank you Dale, this certainly seems reasonable.

Can you forsee any specific problems with the process of renaming...I've
been going into the projects, renaming tasks and then generally publishing
all information. I have been getting some error messages (see latest
question), but it did occur to me that if any time has been saved (I have
sent out three emails to ask people not to until further notice) and not
updated, we might end up with little bits of time floating around and unable
to update. Is this a potential issue?
