repair tool 4 file not there?

When I try to delete messages in my inbox and/or
synchronize w/ my Sony Clie PDA I get an error message in
Outlook saying to use the repair tool on the file
c:\\documents and settings\kimm\local
settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst

My problem is that when I go to find this file it doesn't
seem to exist! Under the kimm subdirectory of documents
and setttings there is no folder "local settings". I have
used the repair tool (scanpst.exe) on the outlook.pst
file I can find (which is just under the c: directory
directly), but that doesn't seem to fix my problem. I
keep getting the error message. Please help!!!

The file and folder are hidden. Use Control Panel-> Folder Options-> View to
make hidden files/folders visible
