Resend Feature

A very strange thing happened with Outlook, perhaps
always but have just caught it.

When I wish to send the same email to different people
personalizing the "Dear....." I use the resend feature
changing the address and the name after "Dear".

I just did this to ten people and disaster. Even though I
changed the names from Jonathan to Ted to Sheila to Jim
etc. The same name "Jonathan' appeared in all ten emails.
What is the most strange however is that in the "sent"
file all the ten emails DID have the name changes. So the
recipient received something entirely different from what
appeared on my computer and what was saved in my
files..... I do believe that if this a a flaw it should
be changed and people should be warned about it.

Which version of outlook and what type of mail accounts do you use? How long
were the messages open? I.e., long enough to create a copy in drafts?

We're seeing behavior similar to this when a copy of the original is saved
to drafts. Try saving the message to drafts after changing the name (just
click save) then sending and see if it helps.

The Outlook version is 2002 and I use my own domain
mail.biblemysteries.com,

The problem is that it is only by chance that I caught
this because someone complained that there was
no "Jonathan" at that address. I have no idea whether
this has been happening for years or not.

They certainly could be saved to drafts but the worrying
part is that sometimes I have sent the same message to
people who would prefer that they have exclusive rights
to the material.

The question really is whether this always happens (I
have no way of knowing) and if it only occurs
infrequently how does one know?????

The test you suggest is fine if I send it to myself but
if I send it in the normal course of business via "draft"
and it does not change the name I am in trouble once
again.
