Reseting my hit counter is not working when I publish. Any Help?

When I try to reset my hit counter in Front Page 2003, the published sight
does not show the new number - it just goes to zero! Any ideas? Thanks!

Open your live website by using the Open Web but placing the url that you
normally publish to instead of your local version. Look in the _private
directory. You should see a file that has the same name as the one with the
hit counter but ends with .cnt. Open this file. This file contains the
actual numbers for your hit counter. Try to keep the same number of digits
that were originally there.

FP doesn't normally publish files in the _private directory as the purpose
of this directory on the server is to save all sorts of content from the web
site. Publishing this directory would overwrite some possibly very important
information generated by forms and other items. That's the major reason the
hit counter count files don't get published.

Hope this helps,
