Reseting Resource Costs

Juan Pablo Morales

We have a Project where we are not tracking resource cost, only fixed cost.
However, we used to have wages associated with resources and that meant that
our costs and our EV calculations starting taking those costs into account.
When we realized this we put resource costs, past and present, on zero.
However the actuals that were entered with these data cannot be changed. How
can we reset those numbers, to make the resource cost of our project zero
again?

Hi Juan,

When I tested your scenario, (tasks with fixed costs and resources) and set
the resource cost to zero in the resource sheet, the actual costs were
automatically adjusted to reflect the zero resource rate. You can manually
enter actual costs in Project by disabling the option Actual costs are always
calculated by Microsoft Project on the calculation tab of the Tools>Options
dialog box. Unfortunately that means you then have to continue entering the
actual costs manually.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
