If I enter resource names in the resource sheet - last

names?
Thank you

Carrie,
You can use the sort function to arrange the names in alphabetical order
on the Resource Sheet but they will always be displayed in numeric order
(i.e. Resource ID) in the drop down list on the Gantt Chart. You could
set up a custom field with a value list that has the names in
alphabetical order but that won't help for assigning resources to tasks.
With regard to resource groups. The main purpose for grouping resources
is to put like resources together. For example, a project may have 5
technical people working on a design - 3 engineers and 2 technicians.
Even though the 5 individuals are listed by name on the Resource Sheet,
you may want to group the engineers separately from the technicians
because they are likely to be on a different pay scale. Whether it is
important to group resources depends on how you need to look at the
labor effort on a project.
Hope this helps.
