value list for resource name

The drop down value list for the resource name field in the gant view pulls
from the resource sheet. Currently lists the names in ID order. Is it
possible to order them in alphabetical order without changing the order in
the resource sheet.

Mine lists in alphabetical order in the Resource Field. When I look at the
Assign Resources dialog box (you should check that one out), it's also in
alphabetical order.

Are you using an English version of Project 2007?

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

No - the pick list, as you say, comes from the order in the Resources Sheet.
What's so special about the current order that prevents you from re-ordering
them alphabetically? If you do re-order alphabetically, click the button to
permanently renumber resources. If the current order is the original order,
you can always re-set the order by sorting on the Unique ID field (Insert a
column with that named field). If it isn't, then copy the current ID column
to Text1 field, then re-order the resource names alphabetically and
permanently, and then re-sort on Text1 when you need to.
