Resource Availability Report

Are there any known issues with the Resource Availability Report in the
PS2007 Resource Center?

Here is the issue we are having...

Scenario: 1 resource, 1 task assignment for the month of January @ 100%
utilization. Assignment of 147 hours for the month for this task. He is not
assigned as a resource on any other project or any other task for this month.

The 'Resource Availability' Report in Project Web Access -- Resource Center
is showing the following for the month of January 2009.

Availability: -85.5
Capacity: 140
Data Warehouse Project: 225.5

Then in other months he should be over allocated and the report in PWA is
showing that he has no allocation for those months.

For the month of January we were execting to see ---> Capacity: 147
Availabity: 78.5 Instead it is showing it as an over allocation and it is
under by 7 hours.

We have spent hours looking @ this and not understanding how the program is
getting these calculations.

Hi Trisha,

generally the functionality works and I have not experienced issues with it
in the past. There are a couple of things you need to consider when looking
at availabillity. This could either be calculated from
- resource is assigned to task ( as per your post)
- resource is part of a resource plan on a project ( but you should be able
to see the details in the resource center)
- resource has requested holiday via the timesheet which has been approved (
this should also be seen in the resource center).

Outside of this, you may want to interrigate the data using the data
analyser ( I am sure you have done this already :) )
I hope this kind of gives you an idea of where the over/underallocation
could come from

Check your resources calendar it looks to me like he has a day off in
January.

He does have January 1st off and this is not included in the calculation.
However, I would expect to see him at a positive availability; not a
negative.

We do not use the timesheet module in Project Server.

Another interesting thing I saw is that I had the project manager remove the
task from the project, save & republish. Then when I ran the resource
availability report it showed that he had 112 hours out there still. I have
no idea as to where this is coming from and I am stilling trying to track it
down.

I'm at a loss.

Thanks for the input.
