Resource display

Would it be possible to display resources in different columns, depending on
the resource group?

Could I generate a report showing the different columns and tasks?

Jose,
Well probably but we will need more information in order to give you a
definitive answer. For example, are your looking for this breakout in a
task view, a resource view or a combination view? What kind of report do
you want?

John,

Thanks for your note.

Specifically what I am looking for is the ability to display at the task
entry form more than a colum related to "resource names". In that way I could
see there different resource types or cathegories displayed by name (ex.:
Resource name column 1 = Plumbers; Resource name column 2 = Painters;
Resource name column 3 = Carpenters).

This would require also the ability to create different pools of "work"
resources writing each of these pools into one of these predefined columns.

I hope this could clarify a little bit more the need. Thanks in advance for
your help!

Jose,
Unfortunately the fields shown on Project's built-in forms (e.g. Task
Form) are not user editable. Users are limited to the choices under
Format/Details. However, one option for the Task Form already shows each
resource and the assigned work and other parameters for each selected
task in the upper pane.

Perhaps all you really need to to structure your Resource Sheet by
resource group. In other words instead of filling your Resource Sheet
with individual names (e.g. Juan, Pedro, Jose, etc.), fill it with
resource categories (i.e. Plumbers, Painters, etc.). Then in the Max
Units field, enter the total number in each group. For example, let's
say you have 5 plumbers. The Max units would then be 500%, meaning you
have 5 plumbers at 100% each and you don't really care which individual
plumber is assigned to any given task.

Then on the Gantt Chart under the Resource Names field, you can simply
select the resource group from the drop down list.
