Resource Report Bug?

Ric

Hello all,

I am having a weird issue that I am hoping someone else knows how to fix.
When I printout a resource report within the master project to display the
project and task name by group I get the correct data and more. However,
displayed only on a couple of resources is the actual filename (save
location) where the project is stored.

For example, the column headings read:

Project / ID# / Task Name / Units / Work / Delay / Start / Finish

Most of the time I get the correct data that reads (for example):

Website redesign / 1 / Functional Designs / etc...

However, on a few instances, the project name is repeated twice...once as
the correct name and the second time it appears as the filename location:

C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\.... / 1 / Functional Designs / etc...

So instead of it reading 'Website Redesign' it erroneously shows the
filename above.

Anyway to fix this? Thanks!

Ric,
As a first guess I'd say the subprojects that show up in duplicate were
moved or saved to a different location. In other words you have multiple
instances of those subprojects still linked to the master.

When working master file consolidation, all files should be kept in the
same directory and ideally in the same folder. Do not change file
locations or replicate subproject files. At best it can cause
duplication and at worst file corruption.

Hi Ric,

It's hard to tell from the example, but are you showing the Project field in
the report? Are you sure you don't have multiple copies of the file attached
in the master?

Double check the resource pool and make sure there aren't two copies of the
same file attached.

I hope this helps.

Yep, that was it! I appreciate the help.

By the way, is there a way to expand the view of the resource pool in the
resource sharing? I have such long filenames that I don't see them in the
little window that allows me to uncheck the ones I need to get rid of.

Thanks for the help!

You're welcome Ric. Glad to have helped and thanks for the feedback.

I don't believe there is any way to expand the window showing the list
of attached files. I would just make a habit if you copy the file or
do a Save As and rename the file, immediately disconnect the copy
while you can still remember what name you supplied.
