Resource, task, and calendar view / report - any ideas?

Hello all,

I've been wading through this forum for quite some time and haven't
found a solution. I know many people have asked for tasks to be
displayed in the "resource usage" view; Project veterans have explained
that the resource usage view is for resources and not for tasks, so
deal with it

Here is the current resource usage view:

Mon, Sept 5 | Tues, Sept 6 | Wed, Sept 7 etc
Resource 1
Task A1 8 hrs
Task A2 8 hrs
Task A3 8 hrs

Resource 2
Task B1 8 hrs
Task B2 8 hrs
Task B4 8 hrs


However, I would like to explain my situation in greater detail than I
have found in the forums. Here is the view that would literally end
most of my insanity with Project:

Mon, Sept 5 | Tues, Sept 6 | Wed, Sept 7 etc
Resource 1 Task A1 | Task A2 | Task A3
Resource 2 Task B1 | Task B2 | Task B4
Resource 3 Task C1 | Task B3 | Task B5

Is this possible? I know the Gantt chart can be configured to display
somewhat like this, but it isn't in a consolidated format like I've
outlined above. Any help would be _greatly_ appreciated.
