Hi all,

I've just started using Project yesterday. I've put in ten differen
projects and assigned resources accordingly. On the resource usag
report, I seem to have some numbers that appear in red for the sam
resource which are greater than other hours for this same resources i
a different week. Do you know what this is trying to tell me ?

Thanks,

A resource will show red on the Resource Sheet if they are scheduled to work
at least 1 minute longer than their availability in any one day. SOmetimes
it is a challenge to find out where the oveload is -- you can change the time
scale in a view if necessary to find it.

The resource usage view (View/Resource Usage...) may assist you.

Hello Ben,

In addition to Jim's good advice, you may find that FAQ #34
"Overallocation Occurring in Less than One day" describes what you
report. The FAQ can be found at:

To help view the overlap in assignments in the Resource Usage view, add
the Start and Finish fields to the left side of the view. (Choose Insert

As you are new to Project, I highly recommend fellow MVP Mike Glen's

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi All,

The exact formulation is:
A resource will show as red if it is overallocated (that is, loaded for more
than 60 secs times the max units) for a duration of at least one minute in
the project.
And yes, FAQ 34 is very good (I wrote it :))
