Restoring a Single File

Is anyone aware of a quick way to restore a single file to a project server
from a backup?

I assume the only way is to build a server restore the database to the
server and extract the file that way then restore it to the production
server?

Is that correct or is there a better way?

Ivan:

You don't need to build a server to do this. Simply restore the database to
a SQL server instance and then point to it with Project using an ODBC
connection. Open the plan from the database and save it as an mpp file.
Then, import it into the Project Server instance.
