Restoring after Server Failure

I have a user that left Outlook (2003) open during a file backup schedule and then the server failed. The backup file shows the .log and .bak file but, of course, not the .pst file. The user had emails that were important that he needs. Is there a way of converting the .bak file to restore it to the .pst file with everything in tact?

Is this a file she created herself? Outlook's backup utility (separate
download) creates another PST file, as far as I remember - it doesn't create
a .bak file. So if you're seeing one, it's likely not a copy of her PST.

Note - MS does not recommend or support accessing PST files over a LAN/WAN
connection - you'll have performance problems and likely experience data
corruption at some point. See
http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq_appxf.htm for a lot of caveats about
PST files in general.
