Restoring SQL Database

D

debsQuestion

I want to restore a copy of my production SQL Project
Server database onto my test environment. But everytime
I run the restore I am unable to open the browser service.
Is there a setting in the database tables that points to
a specific database that needs to be changed??
Anyone know??

The accounts used to access the database are recorded in the registry on the
server. So, when you install a database from one machine to the other, you
need to load Enterprise manager and drop the MSProjectUser and
MSProjectServerUser accounts from the restored database and then add them
back using the logons from the current SQL instance. There may be other
settings that need to be changed as well, such as the DSN name used by the
instance if it has been changed from the default. You'll also need to update
the STS connection and the SMTP connection after you get PWA working.

I cover this extensively in my new book which became available today:
Implementing Enterprise Portfolio Management with Microsoft Project Server.
