Retaining Password, not saved even though box is checked

I am having a problem getting my email to keep the
password I put in. I have tryed checking the boxes both
on the login in popup and in the accounts menu. I've
read about changing the registry on the the computer
itself but am not very familiar with that. Any help on
that?

I had the same problem with my Outlook 2000. I updated my
office service pack (first SP1 then SP3). The problem is
now partially solved. I just need to enter my password
first time I log on. Subsequent Send/Receive does not
prompt for password.
