(This is lengthy, I apologize in advance). I resolved an issue for a client roughly in Dec '01-Jan'02, and I must have thrown away the tech article that helped me solve the problem, and now of course I can not remember what I did to fix this particular issue. Presently, we have an end user that archived a folder and stored the .PST on a network share. The .PST is showing up as a 125 MB file, but when you try to open the archived .PST file it only gives a "Deleted items" folder and there are no contents in that folder. When I figured this out almost 2 years ago we had just rolled out Win2K to the desktop, and the images we burned on the workstations had Outlook 2000 installed, and most of the default settings were initialized (i.e. auto archiving). Initially (2 years ago), I was able to open the .PST files in question from an Outlook 98 client, so I was convinced it was a bug in OL2000 and a patch just hadn't been released yet. But it wasn't a bug in OL2000, after further research and articles, I came across something that mentioned the symptoms we were experiencing being tied in with the auto-archiving feature. I know I did something to disable the auto-archiving (more than just disabling it though) and I could then open the .PST(s) in question up. However, it's been too long and I can not remember. I also am having no luck finding any documents that help. Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank You!
