Reverting to 'Old' Baselines

I

Ian Gray

Hi all,
I have a Master Schedule with 14 Sub-Projects. Each of the 14 Subprojects
are ultimately under my control but they each have a planner that will be
working on them day to day.
I will be saving the Baseline for all of the 14 + Master.
What I want to be able to do is revert back to this Baseline in the future,
should one of my planners do what they're NOT supposed to do and update the
baseline in their plan.
I'm sure this is possible, but I'm unsure how to achieve it... any
suggestions??
Thanks

Hi Ian

It is not so much rolling back baselines as much as moving them around

When you save a baseline in Project 2003 you get the option of 11 locations

Project uses baseline 0 to make its calculations but the other locations
also store full baselines

As a base practise I always create a baseline in both baseline 0 and
baseline 1 when ever I am ready to being the project

If the baseline is ever changed and I need to "rollback" to the original, I
always have baseline 1 which I can copy back to baseline 0 (if required)

To move baselines around open the baseline dialog box

Tools > tracking > save baseline

Go to the iterim plan

In the first drop down box select the baseline you want to copy
In the second drop down box select the location you want to copy it to

In your case ... move the revised baseline out and the original baseline
back into baseline 0

Hopt this helps
